Make a Reflection from novel (LANANG)

Rahardjo, Yonathan. (2008). Lanang. Jakarta:Pusaka Alvabet.

Lanang is the story tells about a veterinarian life named Lanang. He has wife named Putri. They live in the village. In those village, Lanang help dairy cow breeder. But, one day little cow that he help was died. After that, many dairy cows died. Before dead, the dairy cow wasn’t look at sick. Lanang felt shocked and confused. He searched the caused why dairy cow was died, but he didn’t find anything. In the meeting that search the caused what happen with the dairy cow. Rajikun as a “dukun hewan” told that the caused of it is “burung babi hutan”. All of people there didn’t believe it except Lanang who ever met with “burung babi hutan”. Lanang wanted seek “burung babi hutan.” When he sought it, he made a relationship with Rapiqoh who is prostitute woman. Lanang is a playboy, he also make a relationship with Doctor Dewi who is ex-girlfriend when they were student in University. Finally, Lanang was succeed killed “burung babi hutan”. After that, Lanang became a famous person at the village. But, he must got the fact that his wife, Putri dishonest with Rajikun. Beside that, he knew that Doctor Dewi is the mastermind of all the problems. One day he met Dewi in laboratory. Dewi and her friends would become Lanang as their experiment.

Reading this novel is interesting, but Yonathan Rahardjo wrote in difficult and sciences words that it is difficult for the readers to understand. When I was reading Lanang’s characteristic, I remembered my friend said that nobody is perfect. This is an interesting novel to read. It gives a lot of things to learn, but its more conflict and amoral situations. So, this novel only can be read by adults.
